1/39 - Soothsayer

This 24" x 30" original acrylic painting discovers an ancient dryad on the shore line, casting stones in divination. Sunlight shines through an opening towards her crown of twisted driftwood, awakening her third eye.

Copious amounts of light modeling paste and palette knife techniques were utilized to conjure the wooden textures of this old soul. Impressionistic brush stroke techniques were used to apply the hues of the sky and the stones. Metallic mediums were added to create a sense of magic within certain elements of this piece.
