2/53 - Seven Seers

This 22" x 22" original acrylic mixed media painting discovers the gaze of seven ancient dryads embodied within a piece of driftwood that washed ashore. Their glimmering eyes are hidden within the deep crevices of the slowly decaying wood, watching the ongoings of society.

This piece was conjured using copious amounts of modeling paste, giving deep textures to the piece and extending certain elements off the canvas by nearly two inches. Impressionistic brush stroke techniques and palette knife work bring life to the subject. Metallic mediums were used to accent the eyes of the dryads as well as to highlight strands of the grassy shoreline.
