1/53 - Rain Gatherers

This 9" x 9" original acrylic mixed media painting conjures the scene of hamadryads gazing at the raindrops gathering on a forest fungus. The fae within the trees surround the golden mushroom, admiring the water as it collects on the fungi's surface.

This piece was conjured using copious amounts of modeling paste, giving deep textures to the piece and extending certain elements off the canvas by nearly an inch. Impressionistic brush stroke techniques and palette knife work bring life to the subject. Metallic mediums were used to add a sense of magick to the water droplets on the mushroom.
