1/50 - Natural Glow

This 22" x 22" original acrylic mixed media painting catches the moment a rhododendron dryad awakens. As sunlight kisses her leaves, her flower-like locks begin to bloom, revealing the intense hues that are characteristic of her species.

This magickal beauty was conjured using copious amounts of modeling paste to extend elements of the rhododendron off the canvas by over two inches. Impressionistic brush stroke techniques were utilized to create the textures within the background and facial features within this piece. A palette knife was used to apply the vibrant hues of the blooms. Some finger painting was done to give a smooth look to the broad leaf-like wings of this fae.
