24/31 - Despair 2022

This 24" x 18" original acrylic painting captures the portrait of a sorrowful Gaia, or Earth Mother. Her hair, moss on one side, glacier-esque on the other, are effected by the feiry heating of the planet. Even her mountainous wings seem to be separated from her core by the flames. Her textures were conjured using light molding paste and palette knife techniques.
