3/34 - Joyride

This 30" x 24" original acrylic painting captures a glimpse of an air sylph joyfully playing with the Autumn leaves, making them dance as they are released from the trees. This piece was inspired by the intense hues experienced this fall in the Pacific Northwest.

Copious amounts of modeling paste were applied to the canvas to create the twisting forms of the leaves in motion, Impressionistic brush strokes and palette knife techniques were utilized to enhance the movement that has been conjured by this playful air sylph. Metallic mediums were applied to bring a translucent element to his wind-inspired fae.
